Yes. From the winter semester 2026/27, Bamberg charges a processing fee of 60 EUR per applicant from non-EU states, charged only once per semester even for several applications. You do not pay it if, for example, you are an EU or EEA citizen, have a German Abitur or a German Bachelor's degree, are already enrolled at Bamberg and change programme, or apply for a joint or double degree.

No. Bamberg does not accept English proficiency letters, because they do not refer to the CEFR. For its international programmes, hand in IELTS, TOEFL, UNIcert or a Cambridge certificate.

Most German-taught Master's programmes need German at B2, for example DSH-1, Goethe B2, TestDaF level 3 in all parts, telc German B2 University or ÖSD B2. Some need more: Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and Literature and Media need DSH-2, and German linguistics and literature programmes such as Germanistik need DSH-3. A degree in German studies does not count as proof.

For regular students the semester fee is 123.22 EUR: 70.00 EUR for the Studierendenwerk and 53.22 EUR for the semester ticket, the ticket amount applying from the summer semester 2026.
