Prerequisites

You need a six-semester university degree (or equivalent) in education (pedagogy) with a final grade of 3.0 or better on the German scale. The degree must include at least 120 ECTS in pure educational science. Teacher-training degrees usually do not count because they lack educational science content; a Bachelor in Vocational Education (Berufliche Bildung) can be accepted. You also need skills in empirical research methods. If you do not have them yet, you can take up to three unmarked 5 ECTS modules during the Master's (statistics, research methods, qualitative methods); your admission letter says which. You can hand in the final degree certificate and the research methods proof within one semester, at the latest within one academic year. The programme is taught in German, so you need German at level B2. During the studies you complete two internships of at least six weeks each. You choose one focus: early childhood education, adult education or social education. Personal requirements: you can handle a heavy reading and writing load, you like working with technical language, you can organise yourself, you can think in an abstract and reflective way, you have good maths and science skills for research methods and statistics, and you can read English texts (English at level B2 is an advantage).
