About the programme
English Linguistics is a consecutive, English-taught Master of Arts at Trier University over 4 semesters with 120 credits, with entry in the winter or summer semester. It is an empirically oriented programme for graduates of a relevant Bachelor's who want to deepen their knowledge of linguistics. The focus is on language variation, practical command of English and advanced quantitative methods, and a free elective area lets you add specialisations in Anglophone Literatures and Media, Natural Language Processing, Digital Humanities or phonetics. You build solid knowledge of the structure and use of English and of linguistic models. A stay abroad, ideally in the third semester, is recommended. Graduates can work in research or related fields such as artificial intelligence, speech processing and technical editing.
