About the programme
The Sign Language Interpreting Master of Arts at Universität Hamburg trains sign language interpreters for two demanding fields: court interpreting and conference interpreting. You learn the working techniques and the theory behind them, study how language is used in court and during investigations, and practise interpreting specialist talks in both working languages. Required modules cover interpreting in criminal and civil proceedings and conference interpreting, and a profile area lets you gain your own research experience in this young discipline. The programme is designed to be studied alongside work: it runs for six semesters at 20 credit points per semester instead of 30. Teaching is in German, and you can start in winter or summer. Graduates can interpret in courts, for the police, in lawyer consultations and at conferences.
