About the programme
The Master of Education in English at the University of Freiburg combines English didactics with linguistics or literary and cultural studies, over 4 semesters with 120 credits and entry in winter or summer. You study at least one other school subject alongside it. The programme builds advanced English language skills with an intercultural and interdisciplinary study of language, cultural phenomena, literatures and media, and emphasises the skills needed to teach English as a foreign language. It sharpens critical thinking and gives insight into English-speaking cultures. Graduates qualify for the practical training phase for teaching at the Gymnasium (academic secondary school). You need English at B2, German at C1, and Latin or another modern language at B2.
