About the programme

English Literatures and Cultures is an English-taught Master of Arts at the University of Bonn covering the literatures and cultures of Great Britain and the post-colonial world. The focus is on the English Renaissance and on British literature and culture from the 18th century to the present, with post-colonial literary criticism and cultural studies covered in more depth. Because the programme is interdisciplinary, the study of language, literature and culture also takes in questions from history, philosophy, politics and media studies, and you can shape your studies through electives while building advanced research skills. It lasts four semesters and starts in the winter or summer semester. It suits graduates of a related degree with a background in English language, literature and cultural studies.
