About the programme
German as a Foreign and Second Language in the Vietnamese-German Context is a binational Master of Arts run jointly by Leipzig University's Faculty of Philology and Herder Institute and the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) at Vietnam National University, Hanoi. It leads to a double degree and has a strong focus on both research and practice. Teaching is in German, with some English. The programme starts in the winter semester and lasts four semesters (120 credits): you study three semesters in Leipzig and one at ULIS in Hanoi, which the page places in the second semester, and you write your thesis in the third and fourth semesters. A supervised internship at institutions of language teaching and cultural exchange in Vietnam is compulsory. It suits graduates of a degree focused on German as a foreign and second language, or a comparable programme.
