About the programme
The Master's in Linguistics at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is a four-semester, full-time programme taught in English, with 120 ECTS, or 30 ECTS per semester. You can start in either the summer or the winter semester. It gives you advanced skills in research and teaching, deepens and specialises your linguistic knowledge and lets you pursue your own research questions. In the first two semesters you explore the links between linguistics and related fields such as philosophy, English and American studies, German studies, Romance studies or computer science. You also learn to evaluate empirical research critically, replicate published studies and carry out your own case studies. In the third semester you follow your own research questions, plan your thesis and gain research and teaching experience. It suits graduates with a Bachelor's in linguistics or a comparable programme.
