About the programme

History - Sources and Interpretations at the University of Stuttgart is a four-semester, research-oriented Master's. Using theoretical models and practical research, it brings together the study of human thought and action across time and space, combining hands-on work with sources with critical examination and interpretation of historical research. The programme has a general history part and an elective object-oriented segment, with modules structured across eras and around subjects. Studying history here means searching for Europe's cultural roots, and working with sources from different eras is central, so you must show command of German and English, plus a passed Latin qualifying exam or university-tested Latin. Requirements include a Bachelor's with history as a major or minor, or in a related subject, and you can apply shortly before finishing your B.A.
