About the programme
Peace and Security Studies is a Master of Arts at Universität Hamburg that combines security research and policy with a peace studies view. You get a broad grounding in the social science foundations of peace and security research, and seminars cover topics from climate change and arms control to migration, wars and conflicts, peacebuilding and development cooperation. After an orientation unit you take basic modules on methods and normative issues, then profile modules in security studies and interdisciplinary perspectives, plus a practice module with an internship at a cooperating institute and a field trip to Berlin. Classes are in English or German. The regular programme lasts four semesters and starts in winter.
