About the programme
Legal Informatics is a German-taught Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Passau for law graduates who want to add skills in digitalisation without prior knowledge of mathematics or programming. It lasts two semesters and starts in April. You learn to speak both the language of legal professionals and that of IT specialists, so you can work as a legal engineer or use it as an extra qualification as a lawyer or judge. The programme covers three areas: principles, with computer science and information systems for legal professionals; software, with IT contract and software law and quality assurance in software projects; and data, with data protection law, information retrieval and natural language processing, and databases. It suits graduates of a law degree or a law-focused degree.
