About the programme
The European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) is an international, interdisciplinary programme for lawyers and economists who want to understand how law and economics shape each other. It lasts one year, split into three trimesters, and you spend them at a minimum of two of nine cooperating universities, one of which is Universität Hamburg; others include Bologna, Rotterdam, Haifa and Mumbai. Courses cover comparative law and economics, the economic analysis of contract law and competition law, and you can specialise in the third trimester. Classes have at most thirty students. Teaching is in English, the start is in October, and you graduate with a degree from each university where you spent at least one trimester. It suits graduates in law or economics.
Specialization
Students can choose to follow one of three different tracks in the EMLE programme: -the ‘Economic Analysis of Markets, Corporations & Regulators track’ (MCR), -the ‘Economic Analysis of Public & International Law track’ (Public), and -the ‘Economic Analysis of Innovation and Intellectual Property track’ (IP).
