About the programme

Kunstgeschichte (Art History) is a German-taught Master of Arts at the University of Freiburg over 4 semesters with 120 credits, with entry in the winter or summer semester. Located in the tri-border region, it offers hands-on work with original artworks, interdisciplinary and research-focused courses, excursions and study abroad. Project seminars introduce careers in museums, heritage conservation, art journalism, science communication and digital art history. In the third semester you choose study abroad, an independent project or an internship, and the programme ends with research theses defended in colloquia. Graduates can analyse art-historical developments from the Middle Ages to the present and work in museums, auction houses, the art market, tourism, publishing and heritage conservation, or go on to a doctorate. You need German at C1.
