About the programme
Child Development and Intervention is an English-taught Master of Science at Leipzig University focused on understanding and promoting the positive and healthy development of children. It succeeds the former Early Childhood Research master's. Courses fall into three core areas: research, with clinical-developmental theory and analytical methods; research-practice, with assessment, intervention and prevention techniques for children's social-emotional development and mental health; and policy, where you learn to turn research into materials and guidance for children, parents, educators, clinicians and policymakers. Cohorts are small, with hands-on research and internship opportunities. The two-year programme has 120 credits, including a 25-credit thesis and a compulsory four-week research internship worth 5 credits, and starts in the winter semester. It suits applicants with basic knowledge of research methods and statistics, and it prepares you for a PhD, counselling roles or knowledge transfer work.
