About the programme
Chinese Studies is a Master of Arts at Leipzig University, listed with English as its language, that focuses on research into China's language, culture, society and history. Drawing on theories and methods from philology, history, cultural studies, the humanities and social sciences, you learn to reflect on issues related to China and to work on them independently, while expanding your language skills. You choose four of five thematic elective modules, such as religion, social history or global history, and also take two language modules, academic practice seminars and a research internship in the third semester. The programme lasts four semesters (120 credits) and starts in the winter or summer semester. It suits graduates typically from Chinese studies who already speak and read Chinese.
