About the programme
The Biotechnology Master's at Hochschule Bremerhaven prepares you for research and industry roles in a field seen as a key technology for challenges such as climate change and pandemics. Over three semesters you combine bioanalytics with process engineering and the use of organisms and cells, and you get insights into the marine environment and its potential for new active substances. In the first two semesters you deepen your Bachelor's knowledge of molecular and cell biology, bioanalytics and bioprocess engineering, with focus areas such as protein analytics and bioinformatics. In the third semester you write your thesis within a research project at a company or research institution, at home or abroad. You can start in the winter or the summer semester. Requirements include a natural sciences Bachelor's with 210 credits, English at B1 and, as a foreign student, German at C1.

Prerequisites
1. Requirements for admission are a bachelor’s degree (210 CP) in a natural sciences study programme, such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology, with an equivalent German grade of 2.7 or better. If a bachelor’s degree with only 180 CP has been completed, we will make special arrangements for the missing CP. The required equivalent German grade may also be increased by 0.3 for individuals who can provide evidence of at least 2 years of relevant professional experience after obtaining their bachelor’s degree.
2. Proof of English language skills at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The admission requirement for foreign students is an C1 language level in German.

- If necessary, other documents such as a letter of motivation, internship certificate (according to the applicable admission regulations)
