About the programme

Applied Biotechnology (ABI) is a Master of Science at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences that combines in-depth biotechnology methods with management skills, preparing you to run labs and projects in biotech companies, institutions and authorities. In the first two semesters you build core competences in bioprocess engineering, protein purification, applied cell biology, analytics, food product development, and bioeconomy and technology assessment. Management content covers what a project or lab manager needs, including quality management, regulation and standards in the life sciences, and how to acquire, plan and lead research and industry projects. The thesis comes in the final semester, ideally in a biotech workplace outside the university. The programme is taught in English in Ansbach, has 90 ECTS, takes three semesters full time or six part time, and starts in winter.
