About the programme

Chemical Biotechnology at TUM is a full-time Master of Science on the Straubing campus, over four semesters with 120 ECTS, with a start in the winter or the summer semester. Teaching is usually in English, with some courses possibly in German. Transforming the chemical industry is key to climate and sustainability goals, and you learn how to turn biogenic raw materials and waste streams into innovative materials, products and value-creation systems. The programme goes deep into micro- and molecular biology, chemistry and process engineering, and you learn to use optimised enzymes, cells and microorganisms to develop and produce basic and fine chemicals, with a focus on environmentally friendly products and processes. The first two semesters hold the compulsory core and electives including internships, the third lets you sharpen your own profile with electives, and the fourth is for the Master's thesis.
