About the programme
Molecular Biotechnology at Bielefeld University is a four-semester Master of Science worth 120 credit points, starting in the winter semester. It deepens what you learned in your Bachelor's so you can apply common techniques and methods of biotechnology in practice, in line with current research, and it trains you to work more independently by scientific principles. The programme offers a broad education in biotechnology with many choices, so you build your own subject profile on a shared base. Molecular aspects and bioinformatics are at the centre, and a high share of lab courses lets you put methods into practice. Key topics include molecular genetic and biochemical methods and the biotechnical production of active substances, especially with cell culture technology and downstream processing. You are linked to the faculty's current research projects. It suits graduates heading for the pharmaceutical industry, genetic engineering labs, medical research or process engineering.
