About the programme
Labour Policies and Globalisation is a one-year, full-time Master of Arts worth 60 ECTS, taught in English and run jointly by the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) and the University of Kassel. It starts in October. The programme covers sustainable development, social justice, international labour standards and trade unions, focusing on the challenges for labour posed by cross-border corporate investment decisions, supply-side macroeconomics and neo-liberal rules for global trade and finance. The first term takes place in Kassel, with courses on trade union strategies, governance of globalisation and research methods, followed by a six-week internship. The second term is in Berlin, covering economic policy and trade unions, global workers' rights and decent work in global value chains, and ends with a three-month thesis period. It suits graduates in political science, sociology, law or economics with a particular interest in trade unionism.
