About the programme
Biomedical Sciences is a research-oriented and practical Master's at Albstadt-Sigmaringen University for people who want to study the molecular causes of disease and what keeps people healthy. You deepen your Bachelor's knowledge with courses in genetics, immunology, cell biology, protein analysis and pharmacy, and a broad set of electives, including stem cell biology, lets you set your own focus. You get individual support. You bring your knowledge into lab courses and your own research projects at the university, in companies or research institutes, often with industry partners, for example developing assays for drug screening and biocompatibility as alternatives to animal testing, or sensitive tests for food allergens. You can start in winter or summer. It prepares you for a career in research or industry, or a doctorate in the life sciences.

Prerequisites
Completed university degree in the field of life sciences
Students should have a strong interest in biomedical issues and have a degree in the natural sciences or engineering, including biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, nutritional sciences, life sciences, medical technology, molecular medicine, pharmaceutical engineering.
Bachelor's graduates of a UAS have usually acquired 210 ECTS (7 semesters), Bachelor's graduates of a university have usually earned 180 ECTS (6 semesters). For Bachelor's graduates with 180 ECTS credits, there are several ways to make up for the missing 30 ECTS in the course of the Master's program, whereby the standard period of study is extended from 3 to 4 semesters. A total of 300 ECTS is required for a Master's degree.
It is a two-stage selection process. The selection is made in the first stage on the basis of the application documents submitted by the applicants. Selected applicants then have the opportunity to present their aptitude and motivation in an admission interview at the university and to get to know the degree programme and the university. An appointment will be made by telephone.
Applicants who have acquired a university entrance qualification outside the Federal Republic of Germany must have their university entrance qualification checked by the Studienkolleg Konstanz (opens in a new tab). This will check the university entrance qualification according to the evaluation proposals (ZaB). Information on the guidelines can be obtained from the Studienkolleg.
