About the programme

Social and Cultural Anthropology (Ethnologie) is an international, research-oriented, two-year Master of Arts at the University of Tübingen, taught in English. It gives you in-depth knowledge of social and cultural variation in the world and of the similarities between social systems and human relationships. Courses cover topics such as religion, migration and integration, economic and political organisation, health and illness, ritual and performance, violence and memory, exchange, kinship and solidarity, and socio-cultural diversity. The core idea is critical analysis of societies and cultures in a global context, with detailed study of local life as the methodological way in. In the third semester you either do a research project or an internship, for example at an NGO, school or museum. The programme starts in winter.
