About the programme

The Professional MA in Criminology at Universität Hamburg lets people already working in criminology-related fields earn a Master's degree alongside their job. It prepares you for managerial roles dealing with deviance and crime, builds on your first degree and work experience, and adds an interdisciplinary view. After an introductory week, each module starts with a two-day weekend class followed by several weeks of e-learning. The nine modules cover criminological theories, research methods, the sociology of criminal law, policing, criminal justice and alternative responses, and you write your thesis in the third semester. The programme lasts three semesters, is taught in German and starts in winter.
