About the programme

Social and Cultural Anthropology is an English-taught Master of Arts at the University of Freiburg over 4 semesters with 120 credits, starting in the winter semester. It explores social and cultural dynamics in today's globalised world, looking at how economic, political and social structures intersect with worldviews and cultural interpretations, and links local life worlds with global issues. Teaching focuses on economic, environmental and political anthropology, with faculty expertise across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, and a student research project builds practical and analytical skills. You develop methodological competence and intercultural sensitivity, preparing you for careers in research, media, museums, development cooperation, migration-related work and global civil society. You need English at B2.
