About the programme

Architecture is a Master of Science (M.Sc.) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), taught in German or English. It takes 4 full-time semesters (120 ECTS), you can start in winter or summer, and places are limited. You deepen the creative, technical and scientific skills from your Bachelor's and build your own professional profile. The programme is project-based around design: every semester you work on a large building or urban design project with a matching design specialisation. Core competencies, specialisation modules and a final-semester Master's thesis complete the programme. You can earn a certificate in one of three focus areas: urban design, building technology, or architectural and cultural heritage. Admission includes a subject-specific aptitude test based on a design and project portfolio, with an interview for some applicants. The degree follows the guidelines of the Federal Chamber of Architects and international bodies.
