About the programme
Psychology: Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at Justus Liebig University Giessen is a modular Master of Science of 4 semesters and 120 credit points, run by Faculty 06 (Psychology and Sport Sciences). It follows a polyvalent Bachelor's in psychology, and the degree meets the requirements to apply for the state examination that leads to the licence to practise (Approbation). Its contents follow the licensing regulations, combining in-depth methods and science with theoretical knowledge and, above all, psychotherapeutic and professional practice skills, with attention to patient safety and patient rights. It prepares you for independent work with a clinical-psychological and psychotherapeutic focus, especially in health and social services, and also in research. You should bring prior knowledge of the natural sciences, an interest in a very practical course and good English.

Prerequisites
Admission to the Master's programme in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy requires a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology or a degree recognized as equivalent, and which has professional recognition in accordance with the Psychotherapists Act and which complies with the Approbation Regulations for Psychotherapists. You can use this form for this purpose.
For admission to the Master's programme, the applicant must submit a declaration that the examination entitlement in the Master's programme in Psychotherapy has not been lost irrevocably.
The decision on admission to the Master's programme as well as on exceptions is made by the examination board.

Programme-specific documents
Your school-leaving certificate (this may in certain cases take the form of a listing of the subject grades achieved in your last year of school; if applicable, also an academic transcript and/or diploma from a university already attended) and a translation of these documents (into English or German). Translations are only accepted from accredited translators who are authorized to issue official translations in their respective home country. We accept documents in German and English.
