About the programme
Choreography and Performance at Justus Liebig University Giessen is an international, consecutive Master's of 4 semesters and 120 credit points that you can complete in German and English or in English only. It is offered by the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies together with the Department of Contemporary Dance at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK). You choose from practical and theoretical courses in choreography and performance, dance and theatre studies, combining body- and practice-oriented approaches with critical reflection. Dance and movement are explored as artistic means and discussed for their relevance to current aesthetic, social and political contexts, with special attention to contemporary international dance and performance art. Cooperation with regional cultural institutions such as Tanzlabor 21, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and Frankfurt LAB opens professional opportunities. Requirements include a relevant Bachelor's in theatre studies.
