About the programme
The Food Chemistry Master of Science at Universität Hamburg trains future food chemists in subject knowledge, methods and law. Required modules cover food systems, food technology, food microbiology, food chemistry, food law, food analysis, toxicology and crop plant biology. In the elective modules you can specialise, for example in analysis, technology or biochemistry and bioinformatics, and the programme ends with your Master's thesis in the fourth semester. It lasts four semesters, teaching is in German and English, and it starts in winter. The degree in principle qualifies you for the practical training toward becoming a state-certified food chemist in Germany. Graduates can work in academic or other research, in the food industry, in commercial laboratories or in official food control.
