About the programme
British and American Cultures: Texts and Media is a Master of Arts at Universität Hamburg on the literature and culture of Great Britain and the United States. It takes a fresh look at key works, theories and methods, and treats "text" broadly: the written word, but also theatre, film, television, painting, graphic novels, music and fashion. Modules cover advanced literary and cultural analysis, text, context and media, and current topics in American and British studies, and you can focus on either side. The programme lasts four semesters, starts in winter, and is taught in German and English. Graduates can go on to doctoral research or work in press offices, editing and publishing, cultural institutions, libraries and NGOs.
Specialization
Within the specialized area, students may focus on either British or American studies.
