About the programme
The international Master of Science in Bioeconomy at the University of Greifswald looks at the bioeconomy, a cross-sector economic concept based on biogenic resources from agriculture, forestry and the sea, biological and biotechnological processes, and knowledge. The bioeconomy aims to increase regional value creation and build a sustainable economy through innovative processes, and it involves deep transformations, such as replacing fossil raw materials with renewable ones, cascading and combined use of biogenic resources, and greater biodiversity in land, forest and maritime farming. You gain interdisciplinary knowledge and methods for scientific work and practical application across the life, economic and regional sciences, and a broader understanding of the disciplines involved in the transformation. You build your own study plan from many elective modules across the university, and an interdisciplinary case study together with the master's thesis supports career orientation.
