About the programme
English: Language, Literatures and Cultures is a Master of Arts at the University of Göttingen, taught in English. It takes 4 semesters, and you can start each summer and winter semester. The programme gives you in-depth, specialised education in Anglophone language, literatures and cultures, covering linguistics as well as literary and cultural studies. In linguistics you can focus on contemporary English or historical linguistics, and in literature and culture on British or Anglophone, or North American, literature and culture. You can mix modules across departments or specialise in literature and culture, Anglophone literature and culture, or linguistics and medieval English studies. Part-time study is possible on application, after a consultation with the faculty. It prepares you for work connected with the Anglophone and North American world, or for academically oriented jobs in journalism, social or cultural sectors, and lays the foundation for further research.
