About the programme

Molecular Medicine is a one-year, English-taught M.Sc. at the University of Freiburg with 60 credits, run jointly by the Faculties of Medicine and Biology and starting in the winter semester only, with 20 places a year. It gives an in-depth look at current biomedical research in genetics and epigenetics, immunology and infectiology, molecular cell and tissue research, neuroscience, oncology and biological signalling. Two compulsory modules cover the basics of independent research, including the legal and ethical aspects of working with laboratory animals and genetically modified organisms, and four elective blocks let you specialise in basic, disease-related or clinical research. The second part of the year is the Master's thesis research project and its defence. It prepares you for careers in biomedical research at universities, institutes and pharmaceutical companies.
