About the programme
The M.Sc. NanoEngineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen is a four-semester, two-year programme worth 120 credits on the Duisburg campus, taught in German, with a start in the winter or summer semester. Nanotechnology is the production and use of structures smaller than 100 nanometres in at least one dimension, and the engineer's task is to turn nanoeffects discovered in basic research into industrial products. The programme deepens the qualifications of the bachelor's programme of the same name and teaches you to apply, analyse and develop scientific methods for complex problems in nanotechnology. Depending on your specialisation, the focus is on nanoprocess technology or nano(opto)electronics. A doctorate (Dr.-Ing. or Dr. rer. nat.) can follow. The page names electronics, chemistry, automotive engineering, the optical industry and health care as the most important fields for nanotechnology.
