About the programme
The Master of Science in Energy Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen is a two-semester programme of 60 credits on the Duisburg campus, with a start in the summer or winter semester. It is a separate part of the consecutive Energy Science programme, made up of a four-year bachelor's and a one-year master's, and prepares students to develop and assess concepts for the energy supply of high-tech societies. It teaches interdisciplinary knowledge of energy, covering scientific foundations, technical supply, environmental compatibility, economic efficiency and sustainability, grounded in experimental and theoretical physics. Modules are grouped into energy science, general natural sciences, and physics and chemistry. The heart of the programme is a research phase in a research group: three months of working into a current research question, followed by a six-month master's thesis under the guidance of a supervisor you choose within the faculties' capacity.
