About the programme
Economic Research is a research-oriented M.Sc. at the University of Cologne, taught in English over 4 semesters with 120 credits and starting in the winter semester. It gives in-depth training in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, with the chance to focus on areas such as behavioural economics, market design, organisational design, consumer protection, political economy, distribution and financial stability. You get insights into the ECONtribute excellence cluster, do research in small groups with direct access to researchers, and can already complete PhD course work during the Master's. Students usually continue straight into the doctoral phase, though you can also finish with the M.Sc. It suits applicants with a Bachelor's grade of 2.5 or better, a very good grasp of mathematics and statistics, and a strong interest in an academic career.
