About the programme
Paleontology is a research-oriented Master of Science at the University of Bonn, taught in German and English. All areas of paleontology are anchored in research and teaching here: invertebrate paleontology, vertebrate paleontology, micropaleontology and paleobotany. The programme is part of the central research theme Evolution of the Earth and of Life and works closely with other areas of the Department of Organismic Biology and Geosciences, such as evolution, biodiversity, biogeography, geochemistry, climate archives, biomineralisation and molecular biology. It includes a small group of compulsory modules. The programme lasts four semesters and starts in the winter or summer semester. It suits graduates of a relevant degree. Graduates work in applied and industrial paleontology such as consulting, environmental protection or georisks, in government offices and geological services, in raw materials exploration, in museums or in academia.
