About the programme

Applied Geosciences - Georesources, Geoenergies, Geotechnologies at Kiel University (CAU) is a single-subject Master's of 4 semesters. It was set up in response to new demands on geoscience graduates in fields such as the energy transition and adapting to climate change. Supplying society with mineral raw materials, drinking water and fossil energy sources has long been a central task of applied geosciences, together with developing geotechnologies and assessing their risks. Geotechnologies make tunnels, roads, buildings and dykes possible, are essential for water supply and help improve environmental conditions and infrastructure. These tasks remain important, but the energy transition and climate adaptation give them new perspectives and call for new, cross-disciplinary training, which this programme provides.
