About the programme

International Economics and Governance (Internationale Wirtschaft und Governance) at the University of Bayreuth is a four-semester Master of Arts taught in German and English, with starts in the winter or the summer semester. It gives you a systematic, internationally oriented grounding to understand how state and private actors interact in the economy, politics and society. You learn to question models critically and develop your own proposals for better steering. The programme opens with advanced foundations in governance and international economics, covering governance and competition, public finance, corporate finance and capital markets, business ethics, money and currency, and international management. You then specialise in governance and public management or in economic modelling and empirical analysis, and add an individual focus from economics and neighbouring subjects such as business, languages and law, where an internship can also fit. Your Master's thesis tackles a research question on an economic governance problem.
