About the programme

Battery Materials and Technology at the University of Bayreuth is an English-taught, four-semester Master of Science with starts in the winter or the summer semester. It looks at central questions of energy storage in an interdisciplinary, science-oriented way, such as the efficiency and safety of new battery materials. You learn about the whole battery value chain, from electrode and separator materials to the battery pack in an electric car. Alignment modules first give students from the natural sciences and engineering a shared base. Core modules in battery systems technology, battery materials and electrochemistry fill much of the first year. Elective modules from the natural and engineering sciences, including at least one from the natural sciences, let you specialise, and two research modules let you apply your knowledge to current research. It suits science and engineering graduates aiming for battery careers in industry or research.
