About the programme
Mathematics in Science and Engineering at TUM is a full-time, four-semester Master of Science with 120 ECTS, taught in English in Garching, with a start in the summer or the winter semester. It is for people who want to turn problems from engineering and the natural sciences into mathematical models while staying interested in the underlying theory, abstraction and proofs. It remains a full applied mathematics programme, with a broad education in mathematical modelling, numerical mathematics, applied analysis, optimisation and stochastics. You also choose a specialisation in an engineering or natural science field with your academic advisor. The flexible structure lets you study abroad for one or two semesters at a TUM partner university, and the Master's thesis in the fourth semester completes the programme. Graduates are prepared for interdisciplinary work in the software and technology industries, company development departments and research institutes.
