About the programme
Bioeconomy at TUM is a full-time Master of Science on the Straubing campus, over four semesters with 120 ECTS. Teaching is usually in English, with some courses possibly in German, and you can start in the winter or the summer semester. With the climate crisis, scarce raw materials and changing consumer behaviour, you learn to shape social and economic transformation and make it economically, ecologically and socially sustainable. The programme is strongly interdisciplinary, combining economics, with a focus on environmental, behavioural and innovation economics, with biological, chemical-material and technical principles and advanced quantitative methods such as modelling, simulation and optimisation. Besides six compulsory subjects, you choose a major in Social Sciences and Sustainability or in Natural Sciences and Engineering. Graduates are experts in sustainability transformation across economic and social value creation. Admission is through an aptitude assessment.
