About the programme

Food Chemistry at TUM is a full-time, four-semester Master of Science with 120 ECTS on the Weihenstephan (Freising) campus, starting in the winter semester (October). German is the required language. The interdisciplinary programme builds on a Bachelor's in food chemistry and takes a holistic approach to securing healthy and safe food, covering the whole value chain from production through processing and packing to preparation. Its core focus is on the substances formed during food processing and preparation and their analysis at the molecular level, and on how the molecular structure of food can be influenced through targeted interventions in these processes. Further content covers food law, toxicology and quality assurance. Graduates gain detailed knowledge of food, cosmetics, consumer goods, tobacco products, animal feed and their raw materials from analytical, technological and legal perspectives. Admission is through an aptitude assessment.
