About the programme

Public and International Economics (PIE) at TU Dresden is a four-semester Master of Science taught in English, starting in the winter semester, with part-time study over eight semesters possible. It gives you advanced methods and scientific skills to develop solutions to economic policy challenges in a globalised world. The first semester is all compulsory modules that build core methods and subject knowledge, with a mix of theory and empirical methods. In the second and third semesters you shape your own focus through electives, with at least 35 credit points of core electives and at least 10 of presenting and discussing. The fourth semester covers research design and an 18-week Master's thesis on an economic topic. Double degrees are offered with the universities of Trento and Pavia. It suits economics graduates aiming for public institutions, NGOs, trade unions, banks, insurers, media, research or a PhD in economics.
