About the programme
The Master of Arts in Applied Health Science at Ravensburg-Weingarten University (RWU) is a three-semester, application-oriented programme in public health. It follows the World Health Organization's ten Essential Public Health Operations, with a main focus on surveillance and health promotion, and also covers the knowledge needed to work at the interfaces with health protection and care planning. Special emphasis is placed on public health practice in Germany's public health service, whose long-standing weaknesses were revealed by the pandemic. The programme aims to produce graduates with a solid background in public health and scientific methods, together with practical knowledge of the tasks and structures of the public health service. It is aimed at graduates of health sciences, social sciences, nursing, sports science, therapy science and related fields. The page notes that the programme is not offered in 2027.
