About the programme

Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine is a strongly research-oriented M.Sc. at the University of Cologne, taught in English over 4 semesters with 120 credits, with entry in the winter or summer semester. It extends your biochemistry background into modern molecular medicine, with topics such as metabolism, molecular genetics, protein regulation, structural biology, protein engineering and ageing research. In the first year you attend a lecture series, a methods seminar and a scientific competency course, and choose two seven-week subject modules that combine lab work with lectures and seminars. The second year is individual lab research: two 12-week laboratory projects in research groups of your choice, which can also be done outside Cologne, a project proposal and the Master's thesis. It suits biochemistry graduates with at least 36 credits of biochemical, lab-focused study.
