About the programme
Biochemistry is an English-taught international Master's at LMU Munich, open to German, European and international students. It takes two years, divided into four semesters, with 120 ECTS from mandatory and elective modules, and starts twice a year, in April and October. Run by the Department of Biochemistry with the Faculty of Biology, it combines advanced biochemistry with related fields in chemistry and biology. Every student gets thorough mandatory training in advanced biochemistry, then chooses complementary major or minor subjects to either broaden their knowledge or specialise in depth. Well-connected researchers teach modern experimental and theoretical skills. The department sits at the Gene Center on LMU's high-tech campus in Großhadern, close to Max Planck Institutes, the Helmholtz Institute and biotech companies. You are encouraged to do your lab rotation or thesis project abroad.
