About the programme

Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution is an English-taught Master of Science at Leipzig University covering biodiversity research, ecology and evolution of plants and animals at organismic and molecular levels. Over four semesters (120 credits) you work on current research questions through experiments, field observations and virtual experiments, learn lab, field and computer methods, and learn to interpret and present results critically. Compulsory and elective modules give you the basics and room to specialise, and a compulsory internship is preferably done abroad or at an institution outside the university. Research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research and iDiv are directly involved in teaching. The programme starts in the winter semester. It suits graduates in biology or a related subject with a biological focus.
