About the programme
Food and Consumer Economics (Ernährungs- und Verbraucherökonomie) at Kiel University (CAU) is a single-subject Master's of 4 semesters at the Faculty of Agricultural and Nutritional Sciences. Feeding a world population that grows by about 78 million people a year, while diet-related chronic diseases rise and place a burden on society, calls for political and economic solutions. The programme gives you the subject and methodological knowledge to study food questions from an economic perspective, such as how the burdens and benefits of political and business decisions relate and what economic solutions to problems in food markets can look like. Fields include consumer policy, health policy, nutritional medicine, product technologies and marketing strategies, and you learn to analyse consumer behaviour. The faculty supports you in finding internships to gain practical experience.
