About the programme
Sustainable Transition at Justus Liebig University Giessen is an international, fully online Master's, the first of its kind at JLU, offered by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences and Environmental Management. Teaching is in English. It runs for four semesters with 120 credit points, and all courses and exams can be taken remotely, though you can also attend in Giessen if you wish. You study development and transition processes and how to start social and technological change that makes economic activity more sustainable, with a special emphasis on sustainable agricultural and food systems. The programme covers the economic, legal, political, social, agricultural and environmental sides of transition and how they relate to sustainability, using teaching methods such as live online lectures, seminars and group discussions. Most of the fourth semester is for the Master's thesis.
