About the programme
Economics of Global Risk at Justus Liebig University Giessen is a Master of Science of 4 semesters and 120 ECTS, starting in the winter semester. Teaching is in English. Financial crises, climate change, wars, geopolitics and pandemics threaten integrated economies, and the programme trains you to understand a risky world economy by combining economics with a strong quantitative focus and knowledge from international politics, development studies and international law. It has three blocks: a major of 60 ECTS, a minor of 30 ECTS and a 30 ECTS Master's thesis. Compulsory modules include Trade Policy and Global Supply Chains, Risk and Open Economy, and Advanced Econometrics, plus two research projects and two seminars. Within the minor you can take modules from other disciplines or an internship. Graduates are prepared for careers in government, non-governmental organisations, multinational corporations and research institutions.
